I just received my award at the St. Louis Visionary Awards ceremony on April 25 at the Sun Theatre in midtown St. Louis. I was so happy and proud to be recognized for my works as a Deaf Filmmaker, Performance Artist, Playwright, and ASL Poet. It was a surreal experience. I got to meet other recipients of the Awards and they are all phenomenal women who are doing great works for the arts and for our communities in St. Louis. This award reaffirms my confidence and self-faith that my voice is important and my artistic works matter. Thank you to the St. Louis Visionary Awards for recognizing me and believing in my works.
