Here is a GREAT article for Alternet about me and the Taqwacores movement from a feminist perspective. Many thanks to Sara Yasin for interviewing me and for giving me exposure on a very wide national platform.
My friend, M. Oguntunde, a fashion designer based in New York City, interviewed me for his blog on New Year's Eve and we discussed our life goals as artists while we chatted online, and the conversation became more interesting later on. Check it out.
Here is an interview with me for The Scavenger, which is a feminist website based out of Australia. Many thanks to one of my pals, Tiara the Merch Girl, for making it happen.
Many thanks to Alexander McNabb for setting up an interview with me for Dubai Eye (a radio show in Dubai). Of course, it's actually NOT me speaking, since I am Deaf and cannot hear. An actress has spoken my answers on air. Listen to the podcast.
The actress did a good job conveying my attitude, no? ;-) Thanks to Natalie Hamingson for the great intervew/article on Sabina England. Please check this out.
Thanks to Roger Ebert for giving me a shout-out in The Ebert Club, an exclusive newsletter. Thanks to Omer M. Mozaffar for alerting me about this. I appreciate the publicity from Mr. Ebert and I'm really glad he liked my video ALLAH SAVE THE PUNK! after I contacted hinm a few days ago and sent him the link.
Check out this screenshot of me in The Ebert Club that Omer was kind enough to send me. I was interviewed by Amir Telibechirowich, a journalist based in Sarajevo, for a weekly Bosnian magazine called Start BiH. The interview is published in PRINT, but the scanned PDF is available and can be viewed on Scribd. I am very honored and privileged to be featured in a widely read Bosnian publication.
To the people of Bosnia-- if you are reading this, please pick up a copy of Start BiH and check out the interview! Thanks to Tanzila Ahmed for conducting this interview with me for the Taqwacores Zine!! Please check out the interview.
UPDATE: I'm also featured on Sepia Mutiny. Same article but on a nationally renowned website for South Asians. Be sure to check out the comments there. Thanks to Shashwati Talukdar for interviewing me on Dhvani (a literary e-zine based in India). You may check the interview here.
